Sourav Ganguly supports star duo to open for India at T20 World Cup, not Yashasvi Jaiswal or Shubman Gill.

Delhi Capitals is currently at eighth place in the points table with six points after three wins and five losses. They lost their last game to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Speaking during a media event in Delhi, Ganguly expressed that the most important thing for India is to play without fear and emphasized the importance of six-hitting in T20Is. He praised Virat’s capability to hit a 40-ball century and stressed the need for fearlessly and freely playing in T20Is.

Ganguly also highlighted the exceptional talents among Indian players and the tremendous six-hitting abilities within the team. When questioned about Yashasvi’s standing in the T20 World Cup selection, Ganguly emphasized that his selection should not be based solely on one IPL season and stated that he is a special player.

Additionally, Ganguly stressed the need for a balanced Team India for the T20 WC, which includes a mix of both youth and experience. He expanded on the importance of considering performances from both IPL and international matches in the team selection process.

Ganguly also addressed the Impact Player rule, noting that it has not diminished the role of all-rounders but has provided teams with the option to play a stronger batter instead of an average all-rounder. He highlighted the significance of good all-rounders always playing and contributing to the team’s performance.

Lastly, Ganguly acknowledged the influence of IPL on the selectors’ decision-making for the T20 WC squad, expressing hope that selectors will consider performances from the past three to four seasons.
