Top Tihar Official Amid Arvind Kejriwal Insulin Row: “One Rule For All

Mr. Beniwal, speaking in an exclusive interview with NDTV, has alleged a conspiracy to murder him by his party. He mentioned that Tihar has around 1,000 diabetics, and they receive food and medication based on the advice of senior doctors from AIIMS and Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.

Mr. Kejriwal, who was arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, has alleged that he’s being deprived of insulin since his arrest on March 21. His request for a video call with a private practitioner has been denied by the special court in Delhi.

His party, Aam Aadmi Party, has held protests outside the Tihar jail, while Mr. Beniwal called the allegations baseless and stated they will follow the instructions of the court. Mr. Beniwal further defended the actions of the jail, stating that they have answered the allegations in court and have followed the court’s instructions.

He questioned the possibility of slow poison being given in jail and emphasized that the government-appointed senior doctors take care of the medical needs of the prisoners suffering from diabetes. He explained that when a prisoner’s illness is serious, they seek advice from the referral hospital, which includes AIIMS, RML, and other hospitals.

Mr. Beniwal clarified that there is no special treatment based on the category of the prisoner, and the process is the same for all prisoners.
