Prakash Raj says Shashi Tharoor to return for another term as an actor. admin, April 23, 2024 Prakash Raj expressed confidence in Congress candidate Shashi Tharoor’s potential for reelection. In an interview with ANI, Raj voiced his support for Tharoor, emphasizing the benefits the constituency has received from him over the years. He affirmed his dedication to stand by Tharoor, citing the hope, happiness, and joy that Tharoor has brought to the community. Tharoor is facing a challenging two-front contest in the upcoming election. He is up against Union Minister of State, Rajeev Chandrashekhar, and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Panniyan Ravindran. Despite holding the seat since 2009, Tharoor faces strong opposition from the BJP, which has named a notable candidate against him. Challenging the competition further is the fact that the CPI-M is not in any seat-sharing agreement with the Congress party in Kerala. The Left Democratic Front, led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), has nominated Pannyan Raveendran to contest for the constituency. All 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala will vote in a single phase on April 26, with the counting scheduled for June 4. In the 2019 elections, the Congress party emerged victorious on 19 out of the 20 seats, while the CPI-M only secured one seat. The BJP, historically unsuccessful in securing Lok Sabha seats in Kerala, managed to win the Thiruvananthapuram district just once. This occurred when O Rajagopal claimed victory in the Nemom assembly seat in 2016. Shashi Tharoor
