Ruturaj Gaikwad Smashes MS Dhoni’s 17-Year Record as CSK Captain in Major Feat

Gaikwad’s unbeaten century and Shivam Dube’s quickfire 66 helped CSK dominate at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Gaikwad, who took over the CSK captaincy from Dhoni this season, scored 108 runs.

This marks the first time a CSK captain has achieved a century in the IPL, and is also the highest individual score by a CSK captain in the tournament. In comparison, MS Dhoni’s highest IPL score is 84*.

It’s worth noting that Gaikwad, an opener, had the advantage of facing more deliveries compared to Dhoni, who usually bats in the middle order.
