Sanju Samson Supported for India Captaincy After Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya Snubbed

Harbhajan Singh has been suggested as a potential candidate for the role of India’s full-time white-ball captain, following Rohit Sharma. However, Harbhajan expressed a different opinion, advocating for the inclusion of Sanju Samson in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup and grooming him as the next T20 captain for India after Rohit.

He made this statement on X (formerly Twitter) after the Rajasthan Royals’ 9-wicket win over Mumbai Indians on Monday. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performance in the match was cited as evidence that a player’s class is permanent, while form is temporary.

Harbhajan also emphasized that there should be no debate about the wicket-keeper batsman, and he expressed confidence in Samson’s potential as the next T20 captain for India. Sanju Samson’s exceptional form for the Rajasthan Royals in the current season has further strengthened his candidacy.

He has not only been a standout performer for the team but has also led them to the top of the IPL 2024 standings after 8 games. Samson’s impressive record includes being the second-highest run-scorer for his franchise this term, accumulating a total of 314 runs from 8 games at an average of 62.80 and a strike-rate of 152.42.

In comparison, Hardik Pandya has not performed well in the current season, struggling as a batter, bowler, and captain.
