Indian Heart at Chennai MGM Healthcare Saves Pakistani Girl: Born in India, Now Thriving in Pakistan

Ayesha Rashan, aged 19, recently underwent a life-saving heart transplant in Chennai. The surgery was made possible thanks to the support of the Aishwaryan Trust, which covered the costs of the procedure. Ayesha’s family expressed gratitude to the trust and the doctors for their assistance.

After the successful transplant, Ayesha’s condition has stabilized, and she is now able to return to Pakistan. Prior to the transplant, she had been admitted with severe heart dysfunction and required ECMO, a form of life support. Following complications with the heart pump, a full heart transplant became necessary.

The doctors at the hospital in Chennai, including Dr. KR Balakrishnan and Dr. Suresh Rao, highlighted the importance of organ donation and transplant surgery. Chennai is known for its prominence in this field, with Tamil Nadu leading in organ donation and transplants due to proactive initiatives implemented over the years. However, the doctors also appealed to the government for better policies, citing the high cost of transplant surgery in other states, which leads to viable donated organs being discarded.

They emphasized the need for affordability to ensure that more people can benefit from life-saving transplant surgeries.
