Lok Sabha Elections 2024: “At Least 10 Top BJP Leaders In Line To Join Trinamool”: Abhishek Banerjee admin, April 24, 2024 Mr. Banerjee spoke at a roadshow in a Murshidabad Lok Sabha constituency, expressing his party’s readiness to welcome new members at the appropriate time. He asserted that the BJP would be swept out of the state. He accused the BJP of attempting to divide parties, noting that they had poached two of their MPs, to which they responded by taking two BJP MPs. He claimed that the BJP used Enforcement Directorate raids to induct Tapas Ray and asserted that many BJP leaders were eager to join the Trinamool. In response to Mr. Banerjee’s comments, BJP Spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya predicted that the Trinamool would collapse after the elections. He dismissed Mr. Banerjee’s statements as mere political rhetoric and attributed them to the frustration of losing in West Bengal. He pointed out that several prominent figures, including former Union minister Babul Supriyo, party MP Arjun Singh, and eight legislators, had switched to the Trinamool since the 2021 assembly polls. The Trinamool Congress clinched a victory for the third consecutive term in the state in 2021, winning 213 out of 292 assembly seats, while the BJP secured 77.
