P Chidambaram questions BJP’s manifesto reading as written by ghosts and mocks Mangalsutra comment. admin, April 24, 2024 The former finance minister stated that the comments made by BJP leaders were “completely imaginary”. He explained that such claims were possibly being made because his party’s manifesto was well-considered while the BJP’s was a document of cult worship. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, the head of Congress’ manifesto committee criticized the BJP’s statements as “absolute rubbish”, challenging them to show any mention of redistribution or wealth redistribution in the Congress manifesto. Regarding controversy stirred up by Sam Pitroda, Chairman of the Overseas Congress, the former finance minister clarified that it does not appear in the manifesto and that he himself had not spoken about it. He also challenged the BJP leaders to prove their claims about the manifesto. The former finance minister asserted that the Congress has done the necessary calculations and is confident that every promise made in its manifesto can be fulfilled over the term of a government. He pointed out that previous promises, such as the waiver of agricultural loans and the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, were fulfilled despite initial doubts about funding. He emphasized that the Congress manifesto, which promises justice to different sections of society, is being widely discussed across the country, unlike the BJP’s document which he referred to as ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’. He claimed that the BJP’s document is not comparable to the Congress’ manifesto and accused the BJP of inventing imaginary stories and attacking them due to the lack of substance in their own document.
