US Woman’s Rare Medical Condition Results in Permanent Arousal: “Ruined My Life

Scarlet Kaitlin Wallen, a 21-year-old woman in the United States, has revealed her struggles with persistent genital arousal disorder (PGAD), a rare medical condition that causes uncontrollable arousal. She has experienced severe and constant pain in her genitals since the age of six, which has made it difficult for her to work or study full-time. PGAD affects one percent of the population, and its severity varies among individuals.

Ms. Wallen has undergone surgeries to remove some of her genital nerves in an attempt to alleviate the pain. She describes the sensation as nerve pain that is not pleasurable and hopes for a painless sexual relationship in the future. The condition has significantly impacted her daily life, preventing her from engaging in activities with friends and causing immense discomfort.

In addition to PGAD, Ms. Wallen has been diagnosed with congenital neuroproliferative vestibulodynia, a condition that causes hypersensitivity of the pelvic nerves to touch. She has undergone treatments and surgeries, with the hope of eventually living a life free from PGAD. Despite the challenges she faces, Ms. Wallen remains optimistic about the possibility of a future without the debilitating effects of the condition.
