After All This Is Over…”: Mallikarjun Kharge’s Open Letter To PM Modi

The Prime Minister recently launched a scathing attack on the main Opposition party, alleging that the Congress has a plan to redistribute wealth if it assumes power. The Prime Minister claimed that private property, including houses and jewelry, would be taken away and distributed under this purported plan.

This line of attack was first employed by the Chief Minister at a rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara. The Congress has refuted these allegations.

According to its manifesto, if elected, the party will conduct a nationwide socio-economic and caste census to strengthen the agenda for affirmative action. However, there is no mention in the manifesto of a plan to redistribute private property.

Despite this denial, the Prime Minister has continued to reiterate his allegations at various rallies. In response, a letter addressed to the Prime Minister by Mr. Kharge criticizes the government’s policies and accuses it of working for corporates to the detriment of the salaried class and the poor.

The letter also highlights the issue of atrocities against women, Dalits, and farmers under the current government. Additionally, the Congress president has urged the Prime Minister not to be swayed by his supporters’ reactions at his speeches and has emphasized the intent of the Congress manifesto to provide justice to all citizens irrespective of their caste or community.

Following this exchange, the Congress flagged the Prime Minister’s remarks to the Election Commission of India, which has sought responses from both the BJP and the Congress leadership. The commission has also issued a notice to the Congress leadership regarding a complaint against Rahul Gandhi by the BJP.
