Indian General Election 2024: Richest Candidate in Phase 2 has Rs 622 Crore, Poorest has Just admin, April 25, 2024 In the recently held election phase in India, 89 constituencies were scheduled to vote. However, the polling in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul was rescheduled due to the unfortunate demise of a candidate from the Bahujan Samaj Party. Consequently, Betul will now conduct its voting in the third phase on May 7. In the 2019 elections, the ruling BJP-led NDA secured victory in 56 out of the 89 seats while the opposition UPA won in 24 constituencies. Regarding the candidates, Mr. Gowda, contesting against HD Kumaraswamy, declared assets worth Rs. 622 crore, making him the richest candidate. Incumbent Karnataka Congress MP DK Suresh holds the second position with assets valued at Rs. 593 crore. He is seeking re-election from Bangalore Rural and possesses substantial assets including deposits, land, and buildings. Other wealthy candidates include BJP MP Hema Malini, contesting from the Mathura Lok Sabha seat, who ranks as the third richest with assets worth Rs. 278 crore. Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Sanjay Sharma follows with declared assets worth Rs. 232 crore. During this phase, several candidates, such as Rajeswari KR from Kerala and Pruthvisamrat Mukindrao Dipwansh from Amravati (SC), have also declared assets around Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,400. Additionally, Dalit Kranti Dal leader Shahnaz Bano, contesting from Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, has declared assets worth Rs 2,000 and VP Kochumon from Kerala’s Kottayam ranks fifth with Rs 2,230 in assets. Following the election phase, polling will be completed in Kerala, Rajasthan, and Tripura. The first phase of voting, conducted on April 19, covered all seats in Tamil Nadu (39), Uttarakhand (5), Arunachal Pradesh (2), Meghalaya (2), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Puducherry (1), Sikkim (1), and Lakshadweep (1).
