PM Modi explains why Rajiv Gandhi ended inheritance tax after the death of Indira Gandhi.

PM Modi addressed a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena, a place where voting will occur on May 7. In his speech, he intensified his criticism of the Congress, accusing it of accepting Partition based on religion and “cutting off the country’s hands.”

He referenced the abolition of the inheritance tax by Rajiv Gandhi in 1985, following his mother Indira Gandhi’s death, suggesting it was to save her wealth from going to the government. Modi warned voters that the main Opposition party would take over half of people’s earnings through inheritance tax, referencing remarks made by US-based senior Congress leader Sam Pitroda.

Additionally, he highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s recent comment about caste census fears and expressed that the Congress wants to confiscate people’s jewelry and small savings. The Prime Minister also accused the Congress of seeking to bring back the inheritance tax, suggesting that it aimed to loot the hard-earned wealth of the people.

He positioned himself as a protector against this plan and emphasized his role as a barrier between the people and the Congress’ alleged intention to loot them. He further accused the Congress of accepting religious-based partition and claimed that it aims to take away reservation rights from disadvantaged groups for religious appeasement.

Modi criticized the Congress’s stance on Muslim resources and reservation, asserting that the party wants to prioritize Muslims over the poor and underprivileged. He referred to himself as a ‘kaamdar’ (working class) and Rahul Gandhi as ‘naamdar’ (dynast), positioning the Congress as engaged in abuse while he continues to serve the people and ‘Maa Bharti’.

Additionally, he accused the Congress of conspiring to deprive tribals and backward classes of their rights and alleged that the party had included Muslims illegally in the OBC category in Karnataka. He criticized the Congress manifesto for promoting religion-based quotas and claimed that it aims to implement this model of reservation across the country.

Modi also accused the Congress of snatching the rights of OBCs and giving reservation to strengthen its favored vote bank. He emphasized that the Congress manifestos and actions are influenced by pro-Partition Muslim League and highlighted specific instances where he alleges the party attempted to implement religion-based quota.
