When Indira Gandhi passed away: PM Modi discusses why Rajiv Gandhi abolished inheritance tax.

Prime Minister Modi addressed a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena, ahead of the May 7 elections. He intensified his criticism of the Congress, accusing them of agreeing to the Partition on religious grounds and claiming that they had facilitated the amputation of the country’s hands. PM Modi also mentioned that Rajiv Gandhi eliminated the inheritance tax to save his late mother’s wealth from going to the government. Modi cautioned the voters that the Congress, if in power, would impose an inheritance tax, after recent controversial remarks made by senior Congress leader Sam Pitroda.

He also accused the Congress of wanting to conduct an X-ray of people’s properties and valuables to seize their jewelry and small savings. Additionally, PM Modi accused the Congress of aiming to confiscate the wealth accumulated by hard work, asserting that the party plans to loot the people if they come into power. He emphasized his commitment to safeguarding the interests of the public against the Congress’s alleged plans. Furthermore, Modi accused the Congress of accepting the Partition of the country on religious lines and claimed that the party aims to snatch the reservation of SCs/STs/OBCs for the benefit of its Muslim vote-bank.

He then contrasted himself as a ‘kaamdar’ (working class) with Rahul Gandhi being ‘naamdar’ (dynast), and pledged to continue serving the people and the nation. Regarding reservation, PM Modi stated that the Congress has unlawfully included many Muslims in the OBC category in Karnataka and plans to implement religion-based quotas in jobs and education throughout the country. Finally, he alleged that the Congress wants to weaken the OBC vote-bank by giving reservations based on religion.
