I Can’t Breathe”: Black Man Dies After US Police Pin Him Down, Kneel On Neck

Ohio police have released video footage of a Black man, Frank Tyson, who died at a local hospital under contentious circumstances. In the video, the man can be seen repeatedly telling officers “I can’t breathe” as they pinned him to the floor of a bar and handcuffed him.

The incident has drawn comparisons to the killing of George Floyd in 2020 and has stirred emotions reminiscent of protests against police brutality and racism. The video, released by the Canton Police Department, shows officers apprehending Tyson, suspected of leaving the scene of a single-car accident.

An altercation ensues as they attempt to handcuff him, with Tyson shouting for help. The officers then pin him to the ground and handcuff him, and one is seen placing a knee on his back near his neck for about 30 seconds as Tyson pleads that he cannot breathe.

After Tyson remains motionless on the floor for about six minutes, officers check on him and find him unresponsive. They remove the handcuffs and begin CPR before paramedics arrive and take Tyson to a local hospital, where he later passes away.

The incident has raised questions and concerns about the use of force by police officers and the treatment of Black individuals in their custody. The officers involved in the incident have been identified as Beau Schoenegge and Camden Burch and have been placed on administrative leave.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting an inquiry into the incident. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the deadly encounter between George Floyd and Minneapolis police in 2020, which resulted in widespread protests against police brutality and racism.
