Sunita Kejriwal takes on major role in AAP election campaign as Arvind Kejriwal is in jail.

Sunita Kejriwal is scheduled to lead a large roadshow today in support of AAP’s East Delhi candidate Kuldeep Kumar. Delhi Minister Atishi announced yesterday that during the event, Kejriwal will seek blessings for Kumar from the people of Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat, and Haryana. AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj expressed confidence in Kejriwal’s ability to unite the party amidst the current circumstances and stated that her presence has had a positive impact on the party workers. In the past month, Ms. Kejriwal participated in mega rallies organized by the INDIA bloc in Delhi and Ranchi.

These events saw the opposition criticizing the BJP for allegedly misusing central agencies to target opposition-ruled states. She has also conducted three digital media briefings primarily focused on delivering Arvind Kejriwal’s messages to the public. Arvind Kejriwal, who is the current Chief Minister, was arrested last month by the Enforcement Directorate in connection to a money laundering case related to the liquor policy scam. Despite the arrest, the AAP stands firm in asserting that no law prohibits him from governing while in custody.

Before getting involved in politics, Sunita Kejriwal served in the Indian Revenue Services (IRS) for 22 years and took voluntary retirement in 2016. She met Arvind Kejriwal during a training program in Bhopal. Kejriwal is from the 1994 batch, while Arvind Kejriwal comes from the 1995 batch. Her last position was as the income tax commissioner at the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal in Delhi.
