2024 Lok Sabha Elections: Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar Garner Sympathy Wave, Says Chhagan Bhujbal

The NCP leader expressed that people want PM Narendra Modi to form a strong government. However, he believes that the NDA in Maharashtra may not have it as easy as it did in the previous elections due to a sympathy wave in favor of Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar. Chhagan Bhujbal, a senior leader of the alliance, shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with NDTV. Bhujbal mentioned the complex political landscape in Maharashtra, where rebellions and alliances have reshaped the political structure.

He also discussed the impact of these developments on the ongoing Lok Sabha polls and expressed his emotions about the contest in Sharad Pawar’s bastion of Baramati. He noted that the people still have faith in Narendra Modi and want him to form a strong government. However, he also highlighted concerns about the NDA’s slogan for winning 400 seats, indicating that it might convey the message of amending the Constitution. Bhujbal revealed that he was initially told by other leaders in the NCP that he would contest from Nashik, but later realized that his name was not being declared for the seat.

Feeling it was not right for him to wait so long for a decision, he decided not to contest. Overall, the current political scenario in Maharashtra appears to be marked by complexity and conflicting remarks among the allies, with the potential for significant impact on the upcoming elections.
