Ujjwal Nikam, a prominent lawyer, has been involved in several high-profile court cases. Notably, he gained recognition for his role as the prosecutor in the 26/11 attacks case. Born in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon in 1953, Nikam comes from a family with a legal background and has an educational foundation in both science and law.

Nikam’s career highlights include his involvement in convicting individuals in significant cases such as the Kalyan bomb blast in 1991 and the Mumbai serial blasts in 1993. He dedicated over 14 years to working in the special court established under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act, solidifying his reputation as a distinguished prosecutor. One of his notable cases was the prosecution of Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist captured after the 26/11 attacks, where Nikam successfully argued for Kasab’s death penalty.

In recent news, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Ujjwal Nikam as its candidate for the Mumbai North Central constituency, a decision that has replaced the previous candidate, Poonam Mahajan. The Mumbai North Central constituency in Maharashtra, with six assembly segments, is set to hold polls on May 20, with the vote count scheduled for June 4.
