Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Priyanka Gandhi Recounts Bringing Her Father Home In Pieces at Poll Rally

The leader of Congress made comments regarding the alleged wealth redistribution promise amid a controversy. During the ongoing Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Modi accused the Congress of promising “wealth redistribution” in its manifesto and targeting even women’s *’mangalsutras’*. In response, Congress, including its president Mallikarjun Kharge, denied the allegation and accused the Prime Minister of spreading misinformation. Speaking at a rally in Valsad, Gujarat, Congress leader Ms. Gandhi highlighted the sacrifices made by past Prime Ministers from her party and others.

She mentioned the sacrifices made by Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and also praised the contribution of Manmohan Singh and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Ms. Gandhi also criticized Prime Minister Modi, accusing him of lying to the people and not adhering to truthfulness. She expressed disbelief at his claims that the Congress would use an X-ray machine to seize people’s ornaments and *’mangalsutras’* as part of their *nyay* (justice) manifesto. She further pointed out the difference between BJP leaders’ statements and their actions, claiming that they have a history of implementing things they initially denied they would do.

The Congress leader also accused the BJP of intending to change the Constitution in order to weaken democracy and deprive people of their rights. She expressed concern about this tactic employed by the party and warned against their intentions. The election for all 26 seats in Gujarat will be held in the third phase on May 7, with results scheduled to be declared on June 4.
