Deve Gowda’s Grandson Faces Sexual Harassment Allegation Amid Video Scandal

An FIR has been filed with Holenarasipur police station in Hassan district. Prajwal Revanna, the Janata Dal (Secular) MP and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has denied the allegations and filed a police complaint as well, asserting that the obscene videos in circulation were morphed.

Prajwal Revanna departed for Germany yesterday morning. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the state government’s decision to set up a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the case of obscene videos circulating in Hassan district.

This action was prompted by the state women’s commission’s recommendation for the government to take action. The Chief Minister stated that it appears women have been sexually assaulted in the video clips.

The FIR reveals that the survivor alleged being sexually abused multiple times between 2019 and 2022. The complaint will be forwarded to the newly formed SIT, and it is anticipated that more women will come forward to file cases.

Prajwal Revanna was the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, with voting taking place in the second phase on April 26. The Janata Dal (Secular) joined the NDA in September last year.

The BJP has distanced itself from Prajwal Revanna amid the controversy. The state party spokesperson, S Prakash, stated, “We, as a party, have nothing to do with the videos and neither do we have any comments to make on the SIT probe announced by the state government into the alleged sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna.”
