Pakistan Hires Legendary Indian Coach for T20 World Cup, Selects Star-Studded Coaching Staff

Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi announced via press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore that Gary Kirsten has been appointed as the head coach for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and other white-ball series, as well as the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan, ACC T20 Asia Cup 2025, and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. Additionally, Jason Gillespie will take over responsibilities for the ICC World Test Championship fixtures against Bangladesh (at home in August), followed by Tests against England (at home in October) and South Africa (away in December) in the 2024-25 season. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his congratulations to both Kirsten and Gillespie on their respective appointments.

Kirsten conveyed his eagerness in contributing positively to the Pakistan men’s national team in limited-overs cricket, while Gillespie expressed gratitude to PCB for entrusting him with coaching the highly-regarded Pakistani Test team.
