Sahil Khan Arrested in Mahadev Betting App Case After Lengthy Operation admin, April 28, 2024 Sahil Khan, known for his work in films such as ‘Style’ and ‘Excuse Me’ and his influence on social media, was arrested in Chhattisgarh by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) of Mumbai Police Cyber Cell. This came after the Bombay High Court rejected his plea for interim bail. Reports suggest that he had fled Mumbai and was on the run following the rejection of his petition. After an operation lasting over 40 hours, with the assistance of Chhattisgarh Police, Sahil Khan was apprehended and subsequently remanded to four days of police custody by a Mumbai court. The SIT is conducting an investigation into alleged illegal transactions between specific financial and real estate firms in Chhattisgarh and the promoters of the contentious Mahadev betting app. Notably, 32 people, including Sahil Khan, are facing charges being pursued by the Mumbai Police’s cyber cell. This investigation includes scrutiny of Sahil Khan’s bank accounts, mobile phones, laptops, and other technical equipment. Additionally, earlier in the week, actor Tamannaah Bhatia was summoned by the Maharashtra cyber cell in relation to the promotion of a subsidiary app of the Mahadev betting app. This is part of a broader inquiry into alleged promotions of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on the Fairplay betting app. Last year, actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, who had endorsed the app, were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Mahadev online betting app gained attention when it was revealed that it was operated by Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, both from Chhattisgarh’s Bhilai but based in Dubai. The ED’s investigation revealed that the app was run from a central head office in the UAE. Furthermore, it was found that Chandrakar and Uppal had connections with law enforcement, bureaucrats, and politicians, with regular payments made to avoid detection by investigative entities.
