Tihar Authorities Deny Arvind Kejriwal’s Wife a Visit, According to AAP

According to sources, the rules at the jail state that only two people are allowed to meet a prisoner at a time. The Aam Aadmi Party claimed that the jail authorities denied permission for a scheduled visit.

The Tihar Jail administration cited the visits of Delhi Minister Atishi and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as reasons for the denial. It has been reported that after these visits, Sunita Kejriwal may be allowed to meet Mr. Kejriwal.

However, the jail rules stipulate that only two visits are permitted per week. If Atishi meets Arvind Kejriwal on Monday and Bhagwant Mann meets him on Tuesday, no other meeting can be held with him in that week.

Arvind Kejriwal has been in jail since April 1 after being arrested on March 21 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. His time in Tihar Jail has been marked by controversy over his diabetes and medication.

The authorities have been accused of withholding his medication, and the Enforcement Directorate has alleged that Mr. Kejriwal has been eating food that is not suitable for diabetics. The Aam Aadmi Party’s East Delhi candidate held a massive roadshow in support of the party, which is contesting four of Delhi’s seven constituencies.

The Congress will contest the remaining three.
