14 Patanjali Products Licenses Cancelled by Uttarakhand Authority admin, April 29, 2024 The Uttarakhand government filed an affidavit stating that the State Licencing Authority had suspended manufacturing licenses for 14 products of Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. for repeatedly violating the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. Furthermore, the government issued a public notice warning of strict disciplinary and legal action, such as fines, imprisonment, or both, for publishing advertisements contrary to the law. The affidavit mentioned that the State Licensing Authority had granted permission for filing a complaint against the two companies. Following this, manufacturing licenses for 14 products were immediately suspended. Additionally, a criminal complaint was filed against Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, Divya Pharmacy, and Patanjali Ayurved Limited under the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act. The Supreme Court had ordered the Joint Director of the State Licencing Authority and all officers from 2018 onwards to file affidavits explaining their inaction. The Indian Medical Association has sought action against Patanjali for violating the Act, which prohibits the advertisement of certain products for the treatment of specified diseases and disorders. Patanjali had previously committed to the Supreme Court not to make casual statements about the medicinal efficacy of its products or advertise them in violation of the law. It also pledged not to release any statement against any system of medicine to the media in any form.
