Amit Shah’s Statement on Video Controversy: “Will Always Uphold the Constitution

The Home Minister, Mr. Shah, recently countered the Opposition with a complaint filed by the BJP against the Congress. The complaint was regarding a “deep fake and morphed” video of Mr. Shah discussing the elimination of reservations, which was actually in reference to the elimination of quota only for Muslims on religious grounds in Telangana. The BJP had previously removed such a quota in Karnataka before losing power to the Congress.

In Assam, a Congress worker was arrested for allegedly sharing the “fake video”, as stated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a post. During a rally in Assam, Mr. Shah expressed confidence in winning all the Lok Sabha seats and emphasized the purification of the voter list. He also highlighted the government’s use of absolute majority to make significant decisions and called for strengthening the country to ensure Modi’s re-election as Prime Minister.

Refuting the claim that the BJP intended to end reservation or harm the Constitution, Mr. Shah asserted that the Opposition is unable to confront the Modi government on Pakistan and terrorism due to the government’s effective handling of terrorism. Accusing the opposition bloc INDIA of seeking the restoration of ‘triple talaq’, Mr. Shah emphasized the BJP’s commitment to implementing a Uniform Civil Code across the country. In response to the deep fake video, a BJP delegation approached the Election Commission to ensure a free and fair election in the state and raised a complaint against the Congress for attempting to create confusion among the people.
