Deve Gowda’s Grandson Forced to Leave India Due to Sex Scandal: What Happened?

Allegations have surfaced against Prajwal Revanna after video clips supposedly involving him appeared on social media the day after he voted in the Phase 2 elections on April 26. However, Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of JDS chief and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has denied the allegations and filed a complaint stating that the circulating videos have been altered. A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed by the Karnataka government to look into the case of the obscene videos.

The decision to establish the SIT was made after the state women’s commission recommended the government to take action, followed by a woman filing a police case against Prajwal Revanna, accusing him of sexual assault. The woman claims to have suffered from multiple instances of sexual abuse between 2019 and 2022 and alleged misbehavior towards her daughter and vulgar conversations. BJP Leader Devaraje Gowda has stirred further controversy by claiming to have written to the state president last year, bringing attention to serious allegations against the HD Deve Gowda family, including Prajwal Revanna.

He also claimed to have received a pen drive containing explicit videos of women, which were being used for blackmail. Prajwal Revanna, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, filed a police complaint, asserting the videos as tampered and designed to tarnish his image. He then departed for Germany the morning after the videos emerged online.

His father, also an accused in the case, is the MLA from Holenarasipur constituency. The BJP has distanced itself from Prajwal Revanna amidst the controversy, while JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and another leader have adopted a more cautious approach, awaiting the outcome of the investigation but emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations. The Congress, on the other hand, has accused the BJP of facilitating Prajwal Revanna’s departure and staged a protest in Bengaluru demanding his immediate arrest.
