Deve Gowda’s Grandson Forced to Leave India Due to Sex Scandal: What Happened?

The video clips allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna surfaced on social media a day after he voted on April 26 in Phase 2 of the elections. Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of JDS chief and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has denied the allegations and filed a complaint claiming that the videos being circulated are doctored.

The Karnataka government has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the obscene videos case following a recommendation from the state women’s commission. A woman has filed a police case against Prajwal Revanna, accusing him of sexual assault and alleging multiple instances of abuse between 2019 and 2022.

The complainant also claimed that Prajwal Revanna misbehaved with her daughter over a video call and had “vulgar conversations” with her. Additionally, she alleged sexual assault by Prajwal’s father HD Revanna.

BJP Leader Devaraje Gowda has claimed that he had written to the state president flagging “grave allegations” against the HD Deve Gowda family, including Prajwal Revanna. He mentioned receiving a pen drive containing explicit videos of women, which were allegedly being used for blackmail.

Prajwal Revanna, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, has left for Germany after the emergence of the videos, filing a police complaint to assert that they were doctored to tarnish his image. His father, HD Revanna, who is also named in the case filed by their former house help, is an MLA from the Holenarasipur constituency.

The BJP has distanced itself from Prajwal Revanna amid controversy around the sex tapes, while JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy said he would like to wait for the facts to come out of the investigation. Meanwhile, another JD(S) leader has demanded the suspension of Prajwal Revanna, citing damage to the party’s reputation.

The Congress has accused the BJP of helping Prajwal Revanna flee the country and staged a protest in Bengaluru demanding his immediate arrest.
