Google Layoffs: “Hands were shaking” says Google Engineer on H-1B Visa after Python layoffs.

The man, Matt Hu, a former Google employee, recently shared his experience of being laid off by the company. He described how he discovered the news and the impact it had on him and his colleagues.

Setting the scene for the night he found out about his layoff, Matt mentioned cooking a meal with his girlfriend and watching TV before preparing for an interview. He described how he sensed a problem as soon as he opened his laptop, receiving a strange email and losing access to multiple sites, which made him realize that his employment at Google was over.

In a subsequent post, Matt mentioned that he learned that some of his colleagues were also impacted by the layoffs. He described the shock and disbelief he felt upon discovering that his direct manager and the team leader of a neighboring team had also been laid off.

Reflecting on the impact of the layoffs on the team, Matt shared that half of the team had been eliminated and described the emotional response within the team to the sudden and devastating change. He also mentioned a message from his manager encouraging the team to stay calm, rest as needed, and move forward.

Despite the difficult experience, Matt expressed his determination to move forward and shared a screenshot of the email’s subject which indicated that he was laid off from the Python team.
