JD(S) to Suspend Deve Gowda’s Grandson Over Sex Scandal: HD Kumaraswamy admin, April 29, 2024 The former chief minister, Mr. Kumaraswamy, spoke about the suspension of JD(S) alliance candidate Prajwal Revanna in light of alleged explicit video clips of him sexually abusing women. He claimed that the decision to suspend Prajwal was made based on the emerging issues, and he and JD(S) National President Deve Gowda were unaware of the situation. Prajwal is the son of HD Revanna, a former Prime Minister and JD(S) leader. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to look into the alleged scandal and Mr. Kumaraswamy emphasized the need to inquire about the creation and circulation of the video clips. He also stated that if the allegations are true, there should be no compromise and punishment should be in accordance with the law. Mr. Kumaraswamy expressed strong objection to dragging the names of his family members into the controversy and emphasized the need to focus on the individual’s actions. He made it clear that the party would take “merciless action” if the SIT probe proves the charges against Prajwal. Amid questions about Prajwal’s whereabouts, Mr. Kumaraswamy stated that the government would take appropriate action and distanced himself from having prior knowledge of the matter. He mentioned the possibility of a political conspiracy behind the leak of the video clips and urged for a fair probe by the SIT and the government. Regarding the impact on the election, Mr. Kumaraswamy believed that the NDA candidate would win in Hassan and expressed unease about the timing of the release of the video clips just before the election. He refrained from discussing the issue further. This text has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published as a syndicated feed. Politician - Mr. Kumaraswamy
