Lok Sabha Election 2024: AAP’s Arvinder Lovely Objects to Congress Posters on Delhi’s 7 Seats admin, April 29, 2024 Arvinder Lovely expressed his frustration after preparing the Congress state unit for an alliance, stating that he faced insults. In an interview with NDTV, he mentioned that he was pressured to remove loyal Congress leaders, which he refused to do, advocating for reaching out to disgruntled individuals instead of alienating them further. Mr. Lovely also expressed discontent about the Congress alliance with rival Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. He indicated that the alliance was causing the Congress to lose its own political ground, citing the absence of Congress leaders’ posters in the contested seats. The resistance from both parties had hindered the Opposition’s unity efforts in 2019, but they have now agreed on a seat-sharing plan. However, their unity is limited to Delhi, as they are fielding candidates against each other in Punjab and other regions, going against earlier plans for one-on-one contests to challenge the BJP. Mr. Lovely, who showed support for Arvind Kejriwal after his arrest, stated that he had always followed the party high command’s orders, although he implied a departure from this stance. He highlighted his concerns in a letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge about the jailing of several AAP ministers on corruption charges, despite the Congress forming an alliance with Kejriwal’s party for the Lok Sabha elections.
