Congress Releases Another Poll List for Lok Sabha Elections 2024, No Decision On Amethi, Raebareli

The Congress party has announced its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In Haryana, actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar will contest against BJP veteran Rao Inderjit Singh, while former Union Minister Anand Sharma will face off against the BJP’s Rajeev Bhardwaj in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.

Another former MLA, Satpal Raizada, is set to compete in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur constituency against Union Minister Anurag Thakur. In Maharashtra, Bhushan Patil, the vice president of the Mumbai unit, has been pitted against Union Minister Piyush Goyal.

Notably, the party did not announce candidates for high-profile constituencies like Raebareli and Amethi, leading to speculation about potential candidates, including former president Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The last date for filing nominations for both Raebareli and Amethi is Friday, May 3, with the polls set for May 20.

There has been speculation that Rahul Gandhi may contest from Amethi and Kerala’s Wayanad, while Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s electoral debut in Raebareli has sparked interest among party workers. The decision to postpone the announcement for Raebareli and Amethi has left Congress supporters eager for updates.

If Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra indeed contest from these constituencies, it could have strategic implications, particularly for Raebareli, as it was the only seat won by the Congress in Uttar Pradesh during the 2019 elections.
