Deve Gowda’s Grandson to Return Within a Week, Says Lawyer

Janata Dal Secular leader Prajwal Revanna, who has been accused of raping multiple women, is expected to return within a week and cooperate with the investigation, according to his lawyer Arun G in an exclusive interview with NDTV today. The grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and the MP from Hassan, has left the country after videos surfaced on social media, causing controversy during the general election. The lawyer emphasized that there was no rape and mentioned that he had not personally viewed the videos which prompted the state women’s commission chief Nagalakshmi Choudhary to describe it as the “biggest scandal of the country”.

Despite the comments made by the commission chief, the lawyer expressed confidence in their ability to fulfill their professional responsibilities. Arun G, the lawyer, further discussed the police case against Mr. Revanna, which was filed on the complaint of a woman who claimed she had been abused for years by the MP and his father, HD Revanna. The matter has also resulted in a political row, with the BJP distancing itself from the issue and the Hassan MP being suspended by his party.

The lawyer revealed that he and his client were given access to the First Information Report and were prepared to review any evidence provided. HD Kumaraswamy, uncle of Prajwal Revanna and party chief, has stated that no one who has committed a crime should be forgiven.
