India Criticizes BCCI for Overlooking CSK Star, Raises ‘Favoritism’ Issue

Former cricketer Srikkanth accused the team management of favoritism in player selection. He pointed out that Shubman Gill seems to consistently get opportunities even when he is not performing, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, the current highest run-scorer in IPL 2024, is overlooked. Srikkanth highlighted Gaikwad’s impressive performance with 509 runs in comparison to Gill’s 320 runs.

Srikkanth further emphasized that Gill appears to be out of form and questioned why he continues to be selected for the team. He argued that Gaikwad deserves a place in the team due to his consistent performance, including scoring more than 500 runs in 17 innings and achieving a century against Australia. Srikkanth expressed his concern over what he perceives as favoritism in team selection, stating that Gill continues to be favored despite his underwhelming performances in Test, ODIs, and T20s.

In a video on his YouTube channel ‘Cheeky Chekka,’ Srikkanth voiced his dissatisfaction with the selection process, describing it as being driven by favoritism. Additionally, he highlighted his puzzlement at Gill being chosen over Ruturaj Gaikwad, despite the latter’s superior T20I career.
