India to Participate in Champions Trophy in Pakistan? Report Uncovers PCB’s Proposal to ICC

The Pakistan Cricket Board is set to host the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy in 2025. They have selected Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore as the venues for the tournament, with Lahore also hosting the final. The ICC general manager, Wasim Khan, recently visited Lahore to discuss the tournament arrangements with the PCB top brass. It was suggested during the discussion that the Indian team’s travel itinerary be kept to a minimum.

According to a source within the PCB, India could play its initial qualifying round games in Karachi before proceeding to other venues for the knockouts. The Indian cricket team has not played in Pakistan since 2008, with their cricket engagements restricted only to ICC tournaments. Last year, the Indian cricket board did not send the national team for the Asia Cup, which was held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a hybrid model. Stadium renovation work is expected to commence soon, with the tournament scheduled to be held in February-March 2025.
