India’s Participation in Champions Trophy in Pakistan? PCB’s Proposal to ICC Unveiled

The Pakistan Cricket Board is set to host the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy in three cities: Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, with the final taking place in Lahore. According to a PCB source, the ICC general manager Wasim Khan recently visited Lahore to discuss the tournament arrangements and suggested minimizing the Indian team’s travel itinerary. It was proposed that India could play its initial qualifying round games in Karachi before moving to the venues for the knockouts. The Indian cricket team has not played in Pakistan since 2008, with their cricket engagements limited to ICC tournaments.

Last year, the Indian cricket board chose not to send the national team for the Asia Cup, which was eventually held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a hybrid model. Stadium renovation work is expected to begin soon, with the tournament scheduled to be held in February-March 2025.
