Uddhav Thackeray ‘Apologizes’ To Voters For Supporting PM Modi Previously

Uddhav Thackeray, along with his Maha Vikas Aghadi ally Sharad Pawar, offered an apology to the people for previously endorsing the Prime Minister during elections. They made these remarks at a rally in Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, in support of Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Satyajit Patil. Thackeray discussed the circumstances surrounding his government’s fall in 2019, criticizing the BJP, Election Commission, and the Maharashtra Speaker. Thackeray accused PM Modi of labeling them as a “fake Shiv Sena” to influence the court’s decision.

Sharad Pawar criticized PM Modi for only criticizing him and Thackeray during his visits to Maharashtra instead of focusing on plans for the state. He also accused the Centre of misusing central agencies and highlighted the arrests of prominent leaders in alleged corruption cases. Thackeray expressed regret for backing Narendra Modi in the past and accused the BJP of betraying Maharashtra. He also alleged that the BJP used the Shiv Sena in the Lok Sabha elections and then schemed to defeat its candidates in assembly polls.

Thackeray and Pawar also shared the stage at a rally in Kolhapur city for Congress candidate Shahu Chhatrapati. Pawar criticized PM Modi for targeting Thackeray and himself and vowed that the people of Maharashtra would teach him a lesson. Thackeray recalled Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s praise for Pawar’s disaster management skills, countering PM Modi’s derogatory remarks about Pawar.
