Mother and Baby Die After Mumbai Hospital Carries Out Delivery Using Phone Torch admin, May 2, 2024 The woman who passed away was only 26 years old. This tragic incident occurred in the country’s financial capital, in a hospital run by India’s richest civic body – the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The corporation’s health budget is over Rs 52,000 crore, with 12% allocated to health, amounting to Rs 6,250 crore. Khusruddin Ansari, who is differently-abled, brought his 26-year-old wife Sahidun to the Sushma Swaraj maternity home for delivery. The couple had been married for only 11 months. The family alleged that there was a power outage at the maternity home and that the generator was not turned on for three hours. They claimed that after the loss of the mother and child, another delivery took place in darkness. Despite the family’s protests outside the hospital, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has finally ordered an inquiry. They stated that all of the woman’s reports were normal and the delivery was scheduled to be normal. However, when the power went out, they were not transferred to another hospital. The family alleged that the hospital performed the delivery using a phone torch, and sadly, the child did not survive. The family expressed their deep sorrow and called for the doctors and staff to be punished. They also highlighted the poor condition of the hospital and demanded that strict action be taken.
