5 Air Force Members Injured in J&K Poonch as Terrorists Attack Vehicles

Five people were injured in an attack on an Indian Air Force convoy in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. One airman is reportedly in critical condition, and all the injured individuals have been airlifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for further treatment.

Following the attack, reinforcements were quickly dispatched to the area, and counter-terror operations are currently ongoing. This incident marks the first major attack on the armed forces in the region this year, following a series of terror attacks on the army last year.

Visuals from the aftermath of the attack revealed at least a dozen bullet holes on the convoy’s vehicle windscreen, indicating the severity of the ambush. Sources within the security forces revealed that the local Rashtriya Rifles unit has initiated cordon and search operations in the area, and the targeted vehicles have been secured within the air base vicinity near Shahsitar.

The injured military personnel were en route to the IAF facility when they came under ambush, as per the sources. The Poonch district falls within the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, which is scheduled for polling in the sixth phase on May 25.
