Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Leads Amethi, Raebareli Fight: Lok Sabha Election 2024, Your 24 Hours Belong To Me

The Congress party has selected Kishori Lal Sharma as their candidate for the Amethi seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, while Rahul Gandhi is running for the Raebareli seat. During a meeting in Raebareli, Sonia Gandhi Vadra encouraged Congress workers, emphasizing the importance of a strong fight in both Amethi and Raebareli. She expressed her determination to support the workers and open her home to them.

Furthermore, she highlighted the significance of the election in defending reservation benefits and the Constitution from the BJP. Since 1952, the Congress has only lost the Raebareli seat three times. Despite tough opposition, veteran leader Sonia Gandhi managed to secure the seat in the 2014 and 2019 elections.

Rahul Gandhi, on the other hand, will contest from the traditional stronghold of the party, facing off against Uttar Pradesh minister Dinesh Pratap Singh. Meanwhile, in Amethi, the Congress is facing a challenging battle, as the seat was lost to the BJP in the 2019 election. Despite the tough fight, Kishori Lal Sharma, who previously worked as an MP’s representative, has expressed his dedication to serving the people of Amethi.

After the Congress announced his candidacy, Smriti Irani, the BJP leader who defeated Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 election, expressed her confidence in winning the Amethi seat once again. She also questioned the decision of the Gandhis not to contest in Amethi, suggesting that it indicated their anticipation of loss. In Raebareli, Sonia Gandhi has moved to the Rajya Sabha due to health issues, making way for Rahul Gandhi as the party’s candidate.

The election in both Raebareli and Amethi is scheduled for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha polls on May 20. The Congress is gearing up for a significant battle in both constituencies.
