The tragic incident occurred when Navjeet Sandhu was trying to mediate a confrontation in a rent-related dispute between a group of Indian students. During the altercation, Navjeet was fatally stabbed in the chest with a knife, while his 30-year-old friend also sustained injuries. The sequence of events was described by Sandhu’s uncle, who explained that Navjeet had been asked by his friend, another Indian student, to accompany him to his house to pick up his belongings. Upon hearing shouting and witnessing a fight, Navjeet intervened, only to be fatally stabbed. The uncle shared that Navjeet was a brilliant student and had planned to join his family in July for vacations. In addition, it was mentioned that Navjeet had moved to Australia on a study visa one-and-a-half years ago, with his father selling a portion of their land to fund his education.
