2 Brothers From Haryana Arrested For Killing Indian Student In Australia: Navjeet Sandhu, Abhijeet, and Robin Gartan

Abhijeet and Robin Gartan were arrested in Goulburn, New South Wales, on Tuesday, two days after the fatal stabbing of Navjeet Sandhu in the Melbourne suburb of Ormond. According to officials, the Victoria Police, with the assistance of NSW Police, made the arrests and revealed that both the victim and the accused were residents of Haryana’s Karnal. The tragic incident occurred when Navjeet Sandhu was trying to mediate a confrontation in a rent-related dispute between a group of Indian students. During the altercation, Navjeet was fatally stabbed in the chest with a knife, while his 30-year-old friend also sustained injuries.

The sequence of events was described by Sandhu’s uncle, who explained that Navjeet had been asked by his friend, another Indian student, to accompany him to his house to pick up his belongings. Upon hearing shouting and witnessing a fight, Navjeet intervened, only to be fatally stabbed. The uncle shared that Navjeet was a brilliant student and had planned to join his family in July for vacations. In addition, it was mentioned that Navjeet had moved to Australia on a study visa one-and-a-half years ago, with his father selling a portion of their land to fund his education.

Prior to the arrests, the Victoria Police had released details and images of the two brothers being sought in connection with the stabbing incident in Ormond on Sunday. One of the brothers, Abhijeet, aged 26, was described as 170cm tall with a solid build and black hair, whereas Gartan, 27, shared similar physical attributes.
