Mr Aiyar mentioned that Pakistan has nuclear bombs and could drop them on India if provoked by the governments. He criticized the approach of using military might, stating that it only escalates tensions. Emphasizing the danger posed by nuclear weapons, he raised the possibility of a “madman” launching bombs.
He also highlighted the proximity of major Indian and Pakistani cities and the immediate impact of a nuclear attack. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned Mr Aiyar’s comments, attributing them to the Congress’s ideology. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar criticized the Congress for its stance on Pakistan and its alleged tactics of division, lies, and fake promises.
BJP leader Ravi Kishan ridiculed Mr Aiyar, suggesting that he seek treatment and implying that Pakistan is facing a food crisis. He emphasized India’s current strength and the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. This controversy unfolded shortly after PM Modi and other BJP leaders emphasized a more aggressive stance towards Pakistan.
They highlighted a shift from previous Congress governments, stating that India no longer sends dossiers to Pakistan but instead takes direct action against terrorists.
