India Can Decide: Pakistan’s Response to Not Congratulating PM Modi After Elections

PM Modi led the National Democratic Alliance to victory in the Lok Sabha polls, securing 293 seats and setting the stage for a record third term in government. When questioned about Pakistan’s congratulations to PM Modi, Ms. Baloch stated that it is the right of Indian citizens to decide about their leadership.

She refrained from commenting on India’s electoral process and mentioned that it is premature to talk about congratulating the Indian Prime Minister as the new government has not yet been officially sworn in. Ms. Baloch emphasized Pakistan’s desire for cooperative relations and constructive dialogue with all its neighbors, including India.

She highlighted Pakistan’s consistent advocacy for resolving disputes through dialogue, particularly mentioning the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir. In response, India has expressed its willingness for cordial relations with Pakistan but maintained that Islamabad must take responsibility for creating an environment free of terror and hostility.

The Indian perspective is that although the doors for dialogue with Pakistan remain open, the focus of discussion should be on addressing the issue of terrorist camps and activities in the region.
