Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe also accepted PM Modi’s invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony. PM Modi had congratulated President Wickremesinghe on the electoral victory of the BJP-led NDA over a phone call, during which he extended the invitation. Additionally, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has confirmed her attendance at PM Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. She will be leaving Dhaka on June 8 and returning on June 10 to attend the ceremony. The swearing-in ceremony was initially scheduled for June 8 but was later rescheduled to June 9. The BJP won 240 seats in the 18th Lok Sabha elections, while the opposition INDIA bloc secured 234 seats. The Election Commission of India reported that the BJP’s seat count was lower than in the previous elections, while the main opposition Congress party showed significant growth.
