Punjab Man Killed in Canada, Police Suspect Targeted Shooting

Yuvraj, 28, had worked as a sales executive in Canada. He arrived in the country in 2019 on a student visa and later obtained his Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) status. His father, Rajesh Goyal, runs a firewood business, and his mother, Shakun Goyal, is a homemaker.

Tragically, on June 7 at 8:46 am, Yuvraj was shot and killed in the 900-block of 164 Street in Surrey, British Columbia. The Surrey Police responded to a call reporting the shooting and upon arrival, found Yuvraj dead. Four suspects, Manvir Basram (23), Sahib Basra (20), Harkirat Jhutty (23) – all from Surrey, and Keilon Francois (20) from Ontario, were taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder on Saturday.

The authorities expressed gratitude for the work of the Surrey RCMP, Air 1, and Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), but emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) investigators are committed to uncovering the motives behind Yuvraj’s tragic death. Sergeant Timothy Pierotti stated, “there is still more work to be done.”

A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting was targeted, though the reasons for Yuvraj’s killing are still under investigation.
