He highlighted the significant potential in India’s food processing sector, noting its comparatively low global involvement and the unlimited scope for growth in the field. The minister discussed his vision for the department, which was previously led by his father, Ram Vilas Paswan, and later by his uncle, Pashupati Paras, following his father’s passing.

He aims to establish more processing units to increase farmers’ income by enabling them to receive appropriate compensation for their produce. The minister also mentioned Prime Minister Modi’s assurance of support in elevating the department’s status, stating that the Prime Minister had assured him of taking the department to new heights.
