Flash Floods in Sikkim Nachi Claim Lives of 2, Result in Homes Being Swept Away

At least eight people have been injured in a flash flood incident in Namchi’s Yangang area. Sources have stated that the injured individuals, including Yabha Subba, Bishal Rai, and Manita Rai, are currently receiving treatment at the STNM hospital in Gangtok.

Heavy rains throughout the previous night caused the flash floods, leading to a challenging situation around the Yangang village as reported by the District Magistrate of Namchi, Annapurna Alley. Ms. Alley mentioned that the flash floods affected several places in the village and resulted in the destruction of at least five houses in the Majuwa village.

To address the aftermath of the flash floods, disaster management teams, along with the support of local police and residents, have been actively engaged in carrying out rescue operations.
