Gurugram Man Scammed Out of 78,000 Rupees By Sextortion Gang, According to Police admin, June 13, 2024 A senior police officer reported that they are attempting to identify the accused. A man filed a complaint stating that on April 30, he received a video call on WhatsApp from a naked girl. She persuaded him to remove his clothes during the call and recorded it. The man mentioned, “After some time, I received a call from a mobile number pretending to be a crime branch officer. He demanded Rs 20,000 and threatened to circulate the video on social media.” “I paid the amount, but he demanded more for deleting the clip. I became scared and transferred an additional Rs 58,999 to a mobile UPI number. Realizing I had been duped, I approached the police,” he added. An FIR was filed for cheating by impersonation and cheating under the IPC at the cyber crime department of the west police station.
