Plane Carrying Bodies of 45 Indians to Land in Kochi after Kuwait Building Fire admin, June 13, 2024 Kuwait Building Fire: India has sent a C-130J Aircraft to repatriate the bodies of deceased Indians. The majority of the victims are from Kerala, with 23, followed by seven from Tamil Nadu, three each from Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, two from Odisha, and one each from Bihar, Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Haryana. Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, arrived in Kuwait to coordinate with the Kuwaiti government for the early repatriation of the mortal remains of the victims and ensure the well-being of those injured in the tragic fire incident at a labour housing facility in the Mangaf area. Out of the 176 Indian workers in the housing facility, 45 have died, 33 are hospitalized, and the rest are reported to be safe. Upon arrival, the Minister visited five hospitals where the injured Indians are being treated and interacted with them. The patients are reportedly safe and will be discharged gradually depending on their medical condition. Kirti Vardhan Singh also met with First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence & Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud AI-Sabah, who conveyed condolences on behalf of Kuwait’s ruler, Sheikh Meshal AI-Ahmad Al-Jaber AI-Sabah, and assured full support for the repatriation of mortal remains and the medical care of those hospitalized. The Embassy has expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and has been in constant touch with local authorities to provide necessary assistance to the injured and those safely evacuated from the accident site.
