BJP Leader Responds to Elon Musk’s EVM Remark with “Sweeping Generalisation

Elon Musk reacted to Puerto Rico’s primary elections in a post on X, alleging that electronic voting machines should be eliminated due to the risk of being hacked. In response, Mr. Chandrasekhar disputed Musk’s claim, stating that it is not the case at all.

He argued that Musk’s view may only apply to the US and other places where regular computing platforms are used to build Internet-connected voting machines. Mr. Musk’s reaction was prompted by allegations of voting irregularities in Puerto Rico’s primary elections.

Mr. Chandrasekhar clarified that the voting machines in Puerto Rico have no connectivity, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or internet access, and are equipped with factory-programmed controllers that cannot be reprogrammed. He added that electronic voting machines can be successfully architected and built, as demonstrated by India.
