The food safety department in Noida has initiated an investigation into a claim made by a woman regarding a centipede found inside an ice cream tub she ordered through a delivery app. The woman, named Deepa Devi, shared a picture of the insect in the ice cream tub on X on June 15. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the customer.

Amul stated that it responded promptly to the complaint on social media and attempted to contact the customer for a meeting, which took place on the same day of the complaint. During the meeting, Amul requested the customer to provide the ice cream tub for investigation, but the customer declined. Amul highlighted its state-of-the-art ISO-certified plants and quality processes, inviting the customer to visit one of its plants to witness the quality measures firsthand.
