In a post on X, he welcomed US NSA @JakeSullivan46 in New Delhi for a comprehensive discussion on various bilateral, regional, and global issues. Mr. Sullivan’s visit marked the second meeting of the initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) and the first visit of a senior US official after the Modi government came to power for the third term. During his visit, Mr. Sullivan, accompanied by Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and other officials, was expected to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval. Discussions were to include a joint statement underscoring progress and the importance of the iCET mechanism, as well as the situation in West Asia. Prior to Mr. Sullivan’s visit, PM Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden met on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Italy and emphasized their commitment to deepening the US-India Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership. President Biden had also spoken with PM Modi to congratulate him on his electoral win in the Lok Sabha polls, discussing Mr. Sullivan’s upcoming visit and the shared U.S.-India priorities.
